Asheville, N.C. (May 24, 2021) — A new locally owned, globally inspired home store, Abode Modern Home, is opening in downtown Asheville at 29 Page Avenue in August.
Abode Modern Home is the next business chapter for local designer and entrepreneur Kelly K's, formerly of Bliss Farm and Retreat and Bliss Design and Interiors. The new store and its design reflects Kelly's freshest approach to her work: a globally inspired, modern and clean aesthetic combined with her intentional approach to creating spaces that feel nurturing, creative and inspiring.
The downtown Asheville store will offer a mix of home items curated by Kelly: art, lamps, textiles, decor, accent furniture, plants, books, jewelry, tableware and more. Offerings will also include one-of-a-kind pieces, such as art and jewelry, sourced from Asheville artists.
"We're thrilled to open Abode Modern Home in downtown Asheville and look forward to inviting people into our space," said Kelly. "We're creating the store to align with the personal values we hold and our philosophy that design is a lifestyle and a way of being. We design spaces that are globally inspired and feel like sanctuaries — created with intention to help cultivate one's higher self.
"At a time when most of us are still unable to travel internationally, I'm hopeful that our store guests find our offerings and designs evoke feelings of being in far-off places," said Kelly. "Alongside each item for sale, I hope to share the stories behind the global and Asheville artisans who've created each piece."
International travel is an important part of Kelly's life and has always influenced her work. Her travels from Costa Rica to Thailand inspire her design aesthetic.
"Our Abode Modern Home store will have that wanderlust meets down-to-earth feeling we seek to create through the creativity and skill we've become known for. We want our design offerings to be approachable, versus something that feels completely out of reach. Every piece is something I would choose for my own home."
